The journey has been developed around three round tables: how will be the hospital of the future, clinical studies in the framework of a European proposal and the secondary use of data for research and artificial intelligence.

IOMED has presented the advantages of exploiting the secondary use of data for research and artificial intelligence in the event 'Hospital del Mar as a Partner in your European Journey'.

As artificial intelligence becomes increasingly prevalent, hospitals collect a wealth of data that can drive diagnostic models, personalized treatments and operational efficiencies. To this end, it is important to adapt AI dynamics into care and research practices in healthcare settings.

Gabriel Maeztu, co-founder of IOMED participated in this last roundtable, and explained how IOMED's AI-based technology unlocks the structured and unstructured data collected in hospitals.

"At IOMED we are committed to patient-centered data to achieve a secondary use of the data, while maintaining a primary use of the data. This patient-centered architecture allows us to use medical records for innovation and research, citizen and patient care, and population health management," explained Gabriel Maeztu.

"In the field of research, our technology detects variables that meet specific study criteria quickly and efficiently. This facilitates the process of recruiting eligible patients for the study," explained Maeztu.

This briefing session aimed to provide an overview of the role of hospitals in European initiatives. In addition to the secondary use of data, there was a discussion on what the hospital of the future will look like and on clinical studies in the framework of a European proposal.

This event is part of the Horizon Europe program, specifically under Pillar 1, which focuses on Global Challenges and European Industrial Competitiveness. Within this context, Horizon Europe seeks to finance projects that address ambitious and large-scale challenges, such as health.
